God has given us a vision...
to create a thriving regional and multi-site church that will
introduce Christ to…and meet the needs of…thousands of seekers
and believer in our growing area and around the world.
We live in a geographical location that is booming with new
growth and we believe that God is calling us to reach out
with His love right into the middle of it all!! We have
been praying for years that God would grow our local church
and we believe that as God has been answering that prayer!!
Our plans have changed over the years, but God's plan is right
on target! In addition, we have been praying for relevant partners cross-culturally and internationally. Once again, the Lord has answered prayer!! We are excited about some of the ways we see His plan unfolding. Currently, our strategy involves the following...
Phase One – ‘Crossing to Jordan and Getting a Vision’
Several years ago, in September of 2004, we crossed out of our
comfort zones and into a new space sharing option with
the Jordan Road School. Our goal was two fold: to create
more space for our church to grow into and to learn the skills
associated with being a portable church. We were successful
with both! However, that stage of our church's growth
has come to an end in June 2006, but the skills we learned will
prove to be invaluable as we move back 'home' to Calvary
and prepare for phase two!
Phase Two –
‘Preparing 'Home Base’ – Summer 2006
Calvary purchased the house at 721 9th street (right
behind our church facility) in order to use that property to help us expand and renovate our
current facility/location. The purchase and renovation of that property for church offices and expanded parking facilities paved the way for the approval of our renovation and expansion plan. This plan will allow
us to double the size of our facility by creating a multi-purpose sanctuary/gymnasium, new
lobby/cafe spaces, a new kitchen, new bathrooms, new
children's spaces, new parking areas, and new office
facilities that will allow our church to continue to grow. See
the most recent copy of our proposed site plan and
architectural drawings
here.
Phase Three
– ‘Building 'Home Base' - 2006/2009
In late 2006/2007 Calvary entered its first capital
campaign in which we prayerfully sought God's help to raise the funds
needed to complete our plans to renovate and expand our
current facility. By God's grace, the members of our congregation prayerfully committed to give $1.34 million dollars towards this 1.6 million dollar project! It was an incredible and faith-stretching experience to be sure!
We have worked hard since that time to prepare for this project and actually broke ground in April, 2008! We anticipate that Phase One (the new building and the exterior facade of our entire facility) will be completed somewhere around Easter of 2009! We will continue Phase Two (which will involve completing the interior renovation of our existing building and grounds) throughout the remainder of 2009 as the Lord provides!
If you would like to contribute to this special Building Home Base campaign (over and above your regular tithe), please send a tax deductible gift to Calvary
Bible Church. Write ‘BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT FUND” on the
‘note’ portion of your check. Weekly or special gifts can
also be placed in the offering basket on Sundays.
Once we finish this phase of the vision, we will inhabit our
new building and use it for the glory of God as we move
forward to phase four!
Phase Four
– ‘Establishing Our First Multi-Site
Locations' -TBD
After designing and developing the 'Home Base' facility we will seek to send 'missionaries' out into other communities that do not yet have a church like Calvary Bible. Those church sites, connected to the 'home base' via a common vision, leadership structure, financial base, and teaching component will allow Calvary to continue growing at home and in other places as we establish sites that will reach and teach lost people all around the region (and beyond)! We believe that this multi-site work will likely start to take shape in and around 2010, but teams of Calvary people will be praying and planning for this missionary expansion throughout the end of 2008 and into 2009.
Phase Five- 'Reaching to our Samaria and the Uttermost Parts of the Earth' Taking our cues from the scriptures, we have already begun establishing some healthy relationships with other churches from different cultures, regions, and nationalities in an attempt to partner with others and expand our missions effectiveness for Christ. Here in the States we are continuing to partner (financially, through prayer, and through missions experiences) with various parachurch organizations, local missionaries, and especially, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, Second Baptist Church of Atlantic city, and the Willow Creek Association. Internationally, we will continue to support our church planters and missionaries, but will be putting a special emphasis on supporting and partnering with our missionaries, Andy and Ginny Jacobson and the Jesus Film experiences, as well as continuing to support and serve along side of our international partners in Panama, Mexico, and Zambia.
